History
Soryun-ji, known as an ancient temple of the Rinzai Zen sect, is believed to have been founded around the Bunmei era (1469-1487) of the Muromachi period. Situated in a quiet area of Ube, this temple has long served as a spiritual support for the local community. As one of the oldest Zen temples in Yamaguchi Prefecture, many monks have practiced here and devoted themselves to teaching the community.
