History
Kotonin Hachiman Jinja is an ancient shrine dedicated to Hachiman Okami, situated on the banks of the Matsukawa River in Kotonin, Ishikawa District. It has long been revered as the guardian deity of this region. Hachiman is known as a god of war and the ujigami of the Minamoto clan. Warriors came to pray for victory in battle, while farmers prayed for abundant harvests. Today, the shrine continues to support the hearts of local people alongside the clear flow of the Matsukawa River.
