History
Oishi Jinja stands as a guardian shrine of Nagatsuta in Midori Ward, Yokohama, alongside Oji Shrine. A remarkable legend surrounds this shrine: the sacred stone serving as the divine object of worship is said to embody the spirit of Ariwara no Narihira, one of the Rokkasen (Six Poetry Immortals). The noble spirit of Narihira is believed to reside within the stone and protect the land to this day. The shrine is known for blessings of family safety, bountiful harvests, and safe childbirth, and has been deeply revered by the people of Nagatsuta since ancient times.
