Tsuruga Castle Hachiman Jinja is a venerable Hachiman shrine located just near Tsuruga Castle, the symbol of Aizu-Wakamatsu. As a martial kami, Hachiman has been deeply revered by Aizu samurai. It is said that during the Boshin War, Aizu clan samurai offered prayers for military success. Serving as the guardian deity of the castle town, this shrine has walked alongside the people of Aizu throughout its long history. Even today, it bestows the courage to face difficulties and the strength to walk the righteous path.
