Fukujuin is a Soto-shu Buddhist temple in Taihaku Ward, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. Its mountain name is Nankokuzan and its principal image is Sho Kannon. Founded in 1496 (Meio 5), the temple is widely known as one of the Oshu Sendai Shichifukujin (Seven Lucky Gods of Sendai), enshrining Hotei, the god of contentment and abundance. Many pilgrims visit seeking the blessings of good fortune and business prosperity. True to its name meaning "gathering good fortune," it has long been revered by the people of southern Sendai.
