History
Toishi Hachiman-gu is an ancient shrine situated on a high place in Shunan. As its name suggests, Hachiman is enshrined in this location, visible from a distant stone. It has long been beloved by local people and has been especially revered as a deity for military victory and family harmony. From the shrine grounds, one can overlook the townscape of Shunan and the view purifies the hearts of visitors. From ancient times, as the local tutelary deity, this reliable Hachiman has watched over the lives of the people.

境内に無料駐車場が複数あり合計約300台駐車できますが、入口までの道が細いです。初詣期間（大晦日〜三が日）は境内駐車場が閉鎖され、周南緑地公園が臨時駐車場になります。
神様降臨の地とされる「影向石（えいこういわ）」は境内西側の飛び地にあり、知らないと見逃しやすい重要な聖地です。参道石段の途中には鎌倉時代（1320年）鋳造の「洪鐘」（市指定文化財）があり、展望広場からは新幹線が目の前を通過する光景も楽しめます。
初詣・ひな祭り・七五三・大晦日などの時期には当日限定の季節絵入り御朱印が配布されます。安産祈願などの参拝目的を伝えると御朱印に記載してもらえる場合があります。
