History

Byakko

According to shrine records, the origin dates to the 14th year of Emperor Seimu (131 CE), when a shrine was built following a divine oracle, with the main halls constructed during the era of Empress Jingu. The Harima Fudoki records that Iwa no Okamisama gathered the deities who aided in the great work of nation-building here, holding a banquet of appreciation in a pristine mountain and river clearing. Listed in the Engishiki as a shikinaisha, this ancient shrine in Shiso has preserved over a millennium of continuous history.
