History
Suwa Taisha Kamisha Maemiya is considered the oldest sacred site among the four shrines of Suwa Taisha. It enshrines Takeminakata no Kami and Yasaka Toomekachi and has been revered since ancient times as a deity of water and wind. It is the birthplace of Suwa worship, famous for the Onbashira Festival, and traces of ritual practices continuing from the Jomon period have also been discovered. It is a shrine of great historical significance where Takeda Shingen also came to pray for victory in battle. Within the sanctuary stands the Jukkenrou, a long structure where sacred rites are performed, a truly sacred place.
