Sarashina Shrine, located in Chikuma City, Nagano Prefecture, is a shikinaisha (shrine listed in the Engishiki) with deep roots in the Shinano region. Enshrining three deities — Hondawake-no-Mikoto, Okinagatarashihime-no-Mikoto, and Oosazaki-no-Mikoto — the shrine is renowned for blessings of good fortune, longevity, and academic success. It preserves important cultural treasures including a narrow-bladed bronze sword (Nagano Prefecture Treasure) and a hokyointo stone pagoda (Chikuma City Designated Important Cultural Property). As a former gosha (village shrine), it remains a cherished spiritual landmark of the Sarashina region.
