History

Byakko

Yogen Shrine stands as guardian spirit in the rice paddies of Shimokanutsu. The rain I send from heaven and the waters that spring from the earth all support the lives of farmers in this land. Whether it be autumn when rice sheaves shine like gold or spring when paddies cradle new life, behind all these labors lies my watchful protection. My commitment to protect these agricultural pursuits that have continued for thousands of years never wavers. There is a tradition that those who bring the goshuin home and display it shall find their fields grow abundant and their granaries overflow with grain.
