History

Byakko

Koami Jinja is enshrined in Koami-chō in Nihonbashi, a spiritually potent shrine in Tokyo's financial district. This area flourished as a center of commerce from the Edo period, and came to be called Koami-chō because net fishermen lived here. It is particularly famous as the "Tokyo Money-Washing Benzaiten," and according to tradition, money washed in the sacred spring within the shrine grounds returns multiplied many times over. With precious buildings remaining that survived wartime bombing, it serves as a shrine for strong fortune and protection from misfortune, attracting many visitors as a true power spot in the heart of the city.
