Otoshi Jinja is an ancient shrine located in the Takesaki area of Shimonoseki, where it has long protected the community. With Otoshi no Kami as its principal deity, it has been revered as a kami of abundant harvests and prosperity in family enterprises. During the Edo period, it received the deep reverence of the Chofu Domain, and as local industries and commerce developed, it became cherished by many people. Today, it continues to serve as the tutelary shrine of the community, welcoming numerous visitors throughout the year, especially during New Year's celebrations.
