Kōsan Daishi is a sacred site associated with Kōbō Daishi located in the mountains of Kōyama. It is traditionally known as one of the holy places where Kūkai (Kōbō Daishi) engaged in spiritual practice, and remains an ancient temple transmitting the teachings of Shingon esoteric Buddhism. This temple, surrounded by the deep nature of the sacred mountain Kōyama, maintains silence and sanctity befitting a place of practice, despite its proximity to urban areas. It is believed that through the compassionate teachings of Kōbō Daishi, the various wishes of visitors are heard and answered. Climbing the mountain path to reach the temple grounds, one can forget the bustle of daily life and purify the spirit.
