History
Myohokkeji is a head temple (Yuisho-jiin) of the Nichiren sect of Buddhism, located in Tamazawa, Mishima, Shizuoka. Its mountain name is Kyoozan. Together with Myohoji in Niigata, it serves as one of the twin head temples of the Nissho lineage. The temple has long spread the teachings of the Lotus Sutra and attracted devoted pilgrims. The sub-temple Kakurin-in remains within the precinct, and the faith rooted in Tamazawa endures to this day.
