History
Nansenin is an ancient sacred site located in Oyamada-cho, Kagoshima. As its name with the character "in" suggests, it was originally a venerable shrine-temple from the era of syncretism between Shinto and Buddhism. Situated in the quiet mountains of Oyamada, this place has long been cherished as a place of practice and as a spiritual support for the local people. Blessed with clear springs welling up from the earth, Nansenin has listened to the prayers of people for many ages. The naturally abundant temple grounds purify the heart, truly a sacred site of miraculous efficacy. Walking along the quiet approach, one's worldly worries are surely washed away.
