History
Kamo Shrine is located in the Kamo district of Kawanishi City, Hyogo Prefecture. It is an ancient shikinaisha (imperially recognized shrine) of Kawabe District, Settsu Province, with a former ranking of goso-sha (village shrine). Although its exact founding date is unclear, the name Kamo evokes a deep connection to water deities and agricultural gods, akin to the famous Kamo Shrines of Kyoto. Since ancient times, farmers of the Kawabe region have offered prayers here for abundant harvests and the blessing of the land. Surrounded by fertile fields and the bounty of the river, Kamo Shrine has endured as the guardian of the local community. Each year at the annual festival, people from nearby areas gather to pray for prosperous harvests and the peace of the region.
