Byakko

Honzan-ji, formally Iwama-zan Honzan-ji, is a temple of the Tendai sect located in Misaki, Kume District, Okayama Prefecture. Its principal image is Kanzeon Bosatsu (Avalokitesvara). Founded in 701 CE (Taiho 1) by Raikan (Saeki Ariyori) as patron and En no Gyoja as opening monk. The main hall, three-story pagoda, and stone sutra mound are designated National Important Cultural Properties. Pilgrims visit seeking fulfillment of prayers and healing from illness.
