Dairinji is a Soto Zen temple in Nihonmatsu, Fukushima Prefecture, serving as the family temple of the Niwa clan, lords of the Nihonmatsu domain. Founded by Niwa Mitsushige, it has been the sacred burial ground of successive domain lords, whose tombstones stand in solemn rows within the precincts. The temple quietly preserves the memory of the feudal era, offering visitors a rare encounter with the dignity of a bygone age.
