Hatoriori Jinja is enshrined in Mitsuke, Iwata City, and as its name suggests, it is a shrine dedicated to deities associated with textile work. Since ancient times, it has been the object of faith among those engaged in the textile industry and handicrafts of this region, with visitors coming to pray for improvement in technique and business prosperity. Mitsuke Station prospered as an important post town on the Tokaido, with many artisans and merchants residing there. In this context, Hatoriori Jinja came to be cherished as the shrine of the deity of technique and work for those engaged in craftsmanship.
