Hoshoji Hachiman Jinja, located in Hachimancho, Imizu, is a venerable Hachiman shrine. 'Hoshoji' is an old place name that speaks to how this area prospered as a port town from ancient times, serving as a vital crossroads where many people traveled. This shrine, which enshrines Hachiman Daijin, has long gathered the faith of local people as the tutelary deity of the region. Due to its proximity to the sea, it has a history of receiving the devoted faith of fishermen praying for maritime safety and the prosperity of fishing. Today it remains a center for important local festivals and events, standing as one of the representative shrines of Imizu.
