History

Byakko

Sode Yakushi-do is a healing sanctuary dedicated to the Medicine Buddha, who vowed to relieve the suffering of all sentient beings. For centuries, the ill and infirm have sought the compassionate intervention of Yakushi here. The Buddha made twelve vows, each addressing specific categories of human suffering—physical pain, mental anguish, disability, and fear of death. Even in modern times when medical science has advanced greatly, the deep healing of the soul remains essential. Those who come to this small hall find not only treatment for physical ailments but also profound solace for the heart's deepest wounds.
