History
Kiribata Ji is an ancient temple situated in Awa City, serving as the tenth station of the Shikoku Eighty-Eight Temple Pilgrimage. This temple, read as "kiribataji," holds legends connected to Kobo Daishi. There is a beautiful origin story that tells of a woman who was weaving cloth and offered cut fabric to the great master; so moved by her compassionate heart, the temple was named in her honor. Located on a mountainside, the temple grounds offer magnificent views and serve pilgrims as a healing sacred site cherished throughout the pilgrimage journey.
