History

Byakko

This shrine, nestled along the Kakogawa River, enshrines Amaterasu Ōmikami, Sukunahikona no Kami, and Kunikakasu no Ōkami. It is known as the ujigami (clan deity) of the Tahara family, the birth family of Miyamoto Iori. As a former gōsha (village shrine), it has served as the guardian deity of the region. Since ancient times, travelers and merchants have come here to pray for safe voyages and journeys. The shrine continues to watch over the livelihoods of the people of Kakogawa to this day.
