History

Byakko

Tsuruminehachiman Shrine on Crane Peak in Futtsu, Chiba, is said to have been founded during the Yoro era (717–724). Through the medieval period it commanded the devoted patronage of the Kazusa Takeda clan and later the Satomi clan, who revered it as a guardian shrine for warriors. The three enshrined deities—Hondawake no Mikoto, Empress Jingu, and Tamayori-hime no Mikoto—embody the martial spirit that the shrine has carried through centuries of conflict. A dedicatory ridgepole tablet designated as a Futtsu City Tangible Cultural Property testifies to the shrine's long history.
