History
Morioka Shinmeisha is a Shinmei shrine dedicated to Amaterasu Ōmikami, as its name suggests. Located in Shinmeichō at the heart of Morioka, it has long been cherished as the tutelary kami of the community. As a Shinmei shrine enshrining a branch spirit of the Ise Grand Shrine, it brings forth bright and pure blessings through the divine virtue of Amaterasu Ōmikami, the sun kami. Walking alongside the development of Morioka's streets, it has been revered as the protective kami of merchants and craftsmen. Today, it remains a warm shrine that supports the hearts of local people and walks beside their daily lives.
