History
Sakurayama Jinja of Morioka is a venerable shrine established to protect the demon gate of Morioka Castle, the seat of the Nanbu clan. It was deeply revered as the guardian deity of the Nanbu family and developed alongside the prosperity of the Morioka Domain. Famous for the beauty of its cherry blossoms, the shrine grounds turn pale pink in spring, attracting many visitors.
