History

Byakko

Sankaku-ji, situated in the mountainous areas of Shikoku Chuo City, is a historic temple known as the 65th station of the Shikoku Eighty-Eight Temple Pilgrimage. True to its name, this sacred site stands on a characteristically triangular-shaped mountain. As a place where Kobo Daishi practiced asceticism, it is one of the challenging pilgrimage destinations where many devotees climb the steep mountain path. The panoramic views from this high-altitude mountaintop are magnificent, offering sweeping vistas of Shikoku's mountains. It is cherished both as a place for spiritual discipline and ascetic practice, and as a sacred site where one can appreciate the beauty of nature.
