History

A shikinaisha enshrined in Minami-Nagano, Nagano City, and one of the three guardian shrines of Zenkoji Temple. The earliest historical reference appears in the Nihon Sandai Jitsuroku of 860 CE, where it is recorded as the shrine of the consort of Yasakatome-no-mikoto. Like the Suwa Taisha, it enshrines Yasakatome-no-mikoto as its principal deity and participates in the rotating Onbashira Festival among four shrines. It received a rice field donation from the Matsushiro Domain and was elevated to prefectural shrine status in 1931.
