History

Byakko

The Kikusuiji that I know is a temple quietly situated by the clear stream of Chichibu. In the past, many ascetic monks studied in this place, and their teachings are still passed down today. The principal image, the Eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva, is believed to hear the wishes of people and is worshipped for family safety, business prosperity, and as a god of learning. The tranquil precincts calm the mind and make one forget the daily hustle and bustle. The historical atmosphere soothes the hearts of visitors.
