History

The Atago shrine enshrined in Kataoka honors the fire god. The Atago gongen, known protector of fire, has long dwelt in this sanctuary. Since ancient times, farmers have offered thanks for autumn harvests and prayed to avoid fire calamities. Though the ages have changed under my watch, families still visit today seeking household safety and protection.
