History
Usagi Jinja is a very special shrine known for the famous "White Rabbit of Inaba" legend! It enshrines the white rabbit that brought about the connection between Okuninushi no Mikoto and Yakami-Hime as its principal deity, and it is the oldest or among the oldest sacred site of matchmaking recorded in the Kojiki. Standing on a beautiful coastline of the Sea of Japan, it overlooks Oki-no-Shima (also known as Oki Island), which was the stage of the myth. Visitors from across the nation come to pray for the fulfillment of romantic love, and the charming amulets of the white rabbit are also popular.
