It enshrines the white rabbit that brought about the connection between Okuninushi no Mikoto and Yakami-Hime as its principal deity, and it is the oldest or among the oldest sacred site of matchmaking recorded in the Kojiki. Standing on a beautiful coastline of the Sea of Japan, it overlooks Oki-no-Shima (also known as Oki Island), which was the stage of the myth.
