Shirakuni Shrine, situated in Shirakuni, Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, is an ancient shrine of undetermined founding date. It enshrines Okuninushi no Mikoto, the great deity of nation-building and industry, alongside Sukunahikona no Mikoto, the god of medicine. Together these deities have drawn worshippers seeking prosperity, good health, and healing. During the Edo period the shrine received the devotion of the Himeji domain lords. The precincts preserve a dignified atmosphere nurtured over countless generations.
