Fudarakuji is a temple of the Shingon-shu Daigakuji branch located in Zaimokuza, Kamakura. Its mountain name is Nankomyozan. It was founded in 1181 (Yowa 1) by the monk Mongaku, with Minamoto no Yoritomo as its patron. The principal image is an Eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva. It is the 17th sacred site of the Kamakura 33 Kannon Pilgrimage. Due to repeated typhoon damage, it is also known as Tatsumaki-dera (Tornado Temple). Situated near the sea in Zaimokuza, it has long received prayers for maritime safety.
