Adatara Shrine is located in Motomiya City, Fukushima Prefecture, and is one of the traditional candidate shrines for the ancient Shikinaisha Iide Wake Shrine. Its former shrine rank was Kensha (prefectural shrine). The sacred Mt. Adatara serves as the object of worship, and the shrine has long protected the region under the divine authority of the mountain deity. Mt. Adatara is famously described in poet Kotaro Takamura's collection "Chieko Sho" with the words: "The blue sky appearing every day above Mt. Adatara is the real sky." This shrine, dedicated to the mountain's deity, has been revered for generations as a guardian of the Motomiya area.
