History

Byakko

Tsutsumi Shrine, located in Kita Ward, Okayama City, is a Shikinaisha (shrine listed in ancient official records) and is said to be the Second Grand Shrine of Bitchu Province. Its former rank was prefectural shrine, and its crest is the dancing crane. The shrine enshrines five deities including Takata-hime-no-mikoto and Kibitsu-hiko-no-mikoto, and has long been revered as a patron of the performing arts. The name evokes the drum, whose resonance still blesses all who visit. A prefectural-designated cultural treasure, a stone pagoda, remains on the grounds, silently speaking of the shrine's historical prominence.
