History
Sesshuju takes its name from the Buddhist principle of universal salvation—no being left behind, all rescued equally. Located in the Kutsuya district of Shizuoka, the temple embodies the promise of the Amida Buddha to hold all sentient beings in the palm of compassion. The main hall teaches that all who enter, regardless of status or past deeds, receive equal blessing and protection. Across generations, visitors have found here a refuge where the burdens of their hearts are lifted. Rich and poor alike, saint and sinner, all are received with impartial kindness by the Buddha's infinite light.
