History

Byakko

Eisho-in stands in the Western Heights of Shimizu, a sanctuary of Zen teaching conveyed through its rock garden since ancient times. The path to enlightenment that I guide is not one of flashy displays. True light emerges only in silence and meditation. The accumulated spiritual discipline of countless practitioners saturates the very air of this temple. Those who receive the goshuin shall afterward find Buddhist teachings welling up from the depths of their heart in their daily lives. The pine trees of Eisho-in, too, reflect my presence through a thousand years of profound stillness.
