History
Hiyoshi Jinja stands at Yashio in Kakegawa, a location whose name reflects its geography—multiple slopes converging at a sacred point. This juncture has long been recognized as a place of purification and the cleansing of spiritual defilements. The stone steps leading up to the main shrine serve as a physical representation of spiritual ascent, each step leaving behind the dust of worldly concerns. At seasonal transitions, many come to renew themselves spiritually for the months ahead. The roads from all directions converge here, and at that convergence point, a concentrated healing power protects all who seek purification.
