History
Sumiyoshi Jinja, enshrined by the seaside of Akashi, has long gathered the faith of sailors as an ancient deity of the sea. Enshrining the three Sumiyoshi deities, the shrine was bustling with people praying for safe navigation and bountiful catches. The shrine, standing as if to watch over the Akashi Strait, was an irreplaceable spiritual foundation for people of this fishing region. Even today, worshippers never cease visiting to pray for the sea's blessings and safety.

境内に無料の参拝者駐車場（普通車7台）があります。「中尾」交差点から海側へ向かう道は狭くなります。大型車や慣れない方には難しい道幅です。
最寄り駅は山陽電鉄「山陽魚住駅」で、そこから南へ徒歩約5分です。JR「魚住駅」は山陽魚住駅と距離が離れているため、JR利用時は要注意です。
境内から海へまっすぐ続く松並木の参道と、その先の常夜灯・鳥居が主な見どころです。春の藤（4月下旬〜5月上旬）と初夏のあじさいでも知られています。
