Sugihokobetsumei Jinja, located in Tanaka, Kawazu Town, Kamo District, Shizuoka Prefecture, is an ancient shrine also known as Kawazu Kinomiya Jinja. It is identified as an ancient shrine listed in the Engishiki Jimmyocho with a former rank of gosha. The principal deity is Sugihokobetsumei-no-Mikoto, with Isotakeru-no-Mikoto and Sukunahikona-no-Mikoto enshrined alongside. Social records indicate it was rebuilt during the Wado era (708-715), and in 1193 Minamoto no Yoritomo is said to have rebuilt the main hall and donated shrine estates. The precincts contain a large camphor tree over 1,000 years old designated as a National Natural Monument, and the shrine is known for its Kinomiya faith tradition and the ritual of kino-mi-ya-shinkan involving abstinence from fowl and alcohol.
