Myoen-ji is a renowned temple situated in Tokushige, Ijuin-cho, Hioki City, Kagoshima Prefecture. It holds a long history as the family temple of the Shimazu clan, and is particularly famous as a temple with ties to Lord Shimazu Yoshihiro. This place, where the spirit of Lord Yoshihiro, who gained renown for martial prowess in the Battle of Sekigahara, rests, has gathered the faith of many as a kami of martial valor and strategic wisdom. The "Myoen-ji Pilgrimage" held each autumn is cherished as a major event in Kagoshima, drawing many visitors to this sacred place.
