Sagae Hachiman-gu is enshrined in Hachimancho, Sagae City, and is a Hachiman Shrine with distinguished heritage. Sagae prospered in ancient times as a vital point of the Mogami River boat transportation route, and this Hachiman-gu has walked through the town's development as a shrine of great historical importance. Hachiman Ōkami is known as a war god, but has also been revered as a deity of industrial promotion and traffic safety. There is a history of merchants who prospered through Mogami River boat transportation and farmers engaged in fruit cultivation, including cherries, visiting to pray for business prosperity and abundant harvests. Today it continues to be cherished as a pillar of support for the hearts of Sagae City residents.
