History
Kodama Shrine on Enoshima, Kanagawa, enshrines Kodama Gentaro, a celebrated Meiji-era general renowned for his role in the Russo-Japanese War. Founded in 1918, the shrine is known for an exquisite pair of stone guardian dogs with revolving balls in their mouths, gifted by Taiwanese admirers in honor of his work as Governor-General of Taiwan. The shrine stands by the sea, conveying the spirit of valor and dedication.
