Takatenjin Jinja is an ancient shrine enshrined near the summit of Takatenjin Mountain in the mountainous region of Kakegawa. During the Sengoku period, this location, site of Takatenjin Castle, was considered strategically important by Takeda Shingen and Tokugawa Ieyasu. The shrine has long been revered as the protective deity of this area, and it is said that Sengoku warlords made prayers here for victory in battle. Today, the views from the mountaintop remain magnificent, and many visitors combine their worship with hiking. As a deity watching over from the high mountain, it grants fulfillment to various prayers.
