History

Byakko

Kōsoji is a quiet and charming temple nestled in the Hase area of Kamakura. Founded in the Kamakura period, it is said to have been opened by Nichihō Shonin, a disciple of Nichiren Shonin. The principal image is Shakyamuni Buddha, who is believed to grant the fulfillment of all wishes. The temple grounds are rich in greenery, and beautiful hydrangeas bloom especially during the hydrangea season. One can worship with a calm mind in a tranquil atmosphere. The goshuin expresses the teachings of Nichiren Buddhism and the serene atmosphere of the temple.
