History
Rinno-ji is a renowned temple nestled in the verdant hills of Sendai's Kitayama, deeply connected to the Date clan. It is said to have been founded by Jikaku Daishi, and was later relocated to its present location by Date Masamune. Within the temple grounds stands the mausoleum of Megohime, the principal wife of Masamune, which has become cherished by many as a symbol of conjugal love. The beautifully landscaped gardens throughout the seasons, particularly the magnificent autumn foliage, bring peace to the hearts of visitors. The serene temple grounds serve as a sanctuary for healing, allowing those who visit to forget the bustle of the city and pray with a calm heart.
