Nakayama-ji in Takarazuka is a premier ancient temple of Kansai, said to have been founded by Prince Shotoku. It is particularly famous for prayers for safe childbirth, and many women, including Yodo-dono, a concubine of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, have prayed here for safe delivery at this temple of proven spiritual efficacy. The principal image of the Eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva is beloved as the "Kannon of Safe Childbirth," and worshippers visit from throughout the nation. Situated halfway up the mountain, the grounds overlook the townscape of Takarazuka, and visitors can spend peaceful moments amid the natural beauty of the changing seasons. It is truly a renowned temple of Kansai.
