Jōdo-ji standing in the Jōtani area of Ono is an ancient temple founded in the late Heian period by the high priest Chōgen. Known for the restoration of Tōdai-ji, the high priest Chōgen built this as one of his branch temples in Harima Province, establishing it as a hub of Pure Land faith centered on Amida Buddha. The National Treasure Jōdo Hall and the Amida Trinity statues are renowned as masterpieces of late Heian Buddhist art, attracting many culture enthusiasts. The temple grounds bathed in the boundless light of Amida Buddha create a sacred space reminiscent of the Pure Land paradise, warmly welcoming visitors seeking peace of heart.
