Joirinji Temple, situated in Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, belongs to the Soto school of Zen Buddhism and bears the mountain name Jisshozan. It is the 17th of the 34 sacred sites on the Chichibu Pilgrimage circuit. The principal image is Juichimen Kanzeon Bosatsu (the Eleven-faced Kannon). The founding patron is said to have been Mibu Yoshikado. A temple bell designated as an Important Cultural Property of Saitama Prefecture remains on the grounds. The mantra associated with this site has been passed down to visiting pilgrims for generations, and the temple continues to welcome those seeking protection from misfortune, fulfillment of wishes, and freedom from illness.
