History

Byakko

Chinjufu Hachiman-gu is enshrined immediately adjacent to Morioka Hachiman-gu. As its name suggests, it is believed to have been founded as the Hachiman shrine of the Chinjufu, the military administrative center. This shrine strongly expresses the martial character of Hachiman-kami, having served an important role as a place to pray for national defense and regional safety. Located in Morioka's Hachiman-cho, the center of Hachiman worship, it is cherished alongside the adjacent Morioka Hachiman-gu as a guardian deity of the region. It is a dignified shrine that gathers the faith of those wishing for martial fortune and peace.
